Well, last Thursday, I went and saw a fertility specialist. Everything went well. I have to get some tests done that i'm not too thrilled about.

Next Monday, I to go in and get my blood drawn. They are doing a Thrombophilia Panel. It basically checks everything. I have to fast for it, so it should be fun. My sister-in-law said that they usually draw about 10 tubes of blood. I will be leaving Rylee at home with my grandmother. I just hope I will feel ok to drive home. Luckily, it's not too far. I will bring something to eat and drink after the test is done.

I had to call them today to let them know that I finally started my 1st cycle since my miscarriage. Next Wednesday, I have to get a Hysterosalpingogram. Try saying that 5 times fast . This test should be tons of fun. This is an important test that is part of the basic infertility evaluation. A catheter is placed through the cervical opening into the uterine cavity in which radiographic contrast (dye) is injected. The uterine cavity fills with dye and if the fallopian tubes are open the dye will then fill the tubes and spill out into the abdominal cavity. In this way it can be determined whether the fallopian tubes are open or blocked and whether the blockage is loctaed at the beginning of the tube and the uterus or whether it is at the end of the fallopian tube. There are other things that potentially can be seen on a hysterosalpingogram other than whether the tubes are open or blocked. The uterine cavity is evaluated for the presence of polyps or fibroid tumors or scar tissue. The fallopian tubes are also examined for any defects within the tube or suggestion of partial blockage. The results of the test are immediately available.

On day 10 of my cycle, I have to start using an Ovulation Predictor Kit to see when I ovulate. As soon as I get my LH surge, I have to call my doctor. 8 days after my LH surge, or cycle day 20~>22 if I don't have a LH surge, I have to go in and get my progesterone checked. If it's not high enough, I will most likely have to start Prometrium. I have a HUGE feeling this is the problem. We will see.

Now, here is the other FUN part of this whole testing bit. 12 days after I get my LH surge or 5 days after the progesterone is checked, I have to have an Endometrial Biopsy . An endometrial biopsy is a procedure to remove a small sample of the lining of the uterus. The sample is examined under a microscope for abnormal cells. An endometrial biopsy helps to evaluate whether the endometrium is going through its normal stages of change during the menstrual cycle and to determine whether cancerous conditions are present. It will also tell if the lining of my uterus is being properly prepared by hormones (estrogen and progesterone) to support pregnancy.

After all of that has been done, I have to schedule a consultation appointment with my fertility specialist to go over everything and to see where we go from there. I will update you all with everything, and if I find anything out, I will post it here. Wish me tons of luck!!!!

Take a deep breath. I went through the testing back in 2000. It seemed so dounting at first but once the cycle was over I felt good knowing we did everything we could to find out a cause. At the time I was going through the tests to determine why I dealing with infertility and ironically now I'm going back to see the RE for recurrent m/c.

The HSG wasn't too bad. Just take a couple of Aleve before the test. The biopsy wasn't too bad either. I took 2 Aleve about 30 minutes before the test and was okay. Felt some cramping but nothing to bad. To be honest...what got me was all the blood work and my veins weren't coordinating by the end of the testing. I also had a sonohystogram done where they inject saline into your uterus and use a vaginaly u/s to look at the uterus and the shape of it.

I'm so glad that you've started the process. Like I said before...it's daunting but if you find out answers it will be so worth the inconvienence that you'll experience for the next few weeks. Feel free to PM me if you wanna chat.

Thank you Claire1977 for my adorable siggy
For the special little one in your life!

I think you will fidn lots of support here. Many of us have had all the test you are speaking of...and as Nicole said - it isn't as bad as it sounds - honestly. When I went in for my first round of blood tests, they took 17 vials. I about poohed just looking at them all lined up. 2 women from teh lab had to come "watch" as they had never seen a Dr order so many at once. They gave me OJ after & told me it was about the equivalent of donating blood. I ended up back 2 weeks later & 10 more vials - I think I may have even been tested for ebola virus -kidding. It will be okay & come here with all you worries, questions, etc. You will find lots of answers & support as you go through all of it. Good luck!
