A friend of mine, who I met in my Hypnobirthing class, just sent me an email from a post that she saw on mothering.com. It is regarding the birth center I am planning to give birth in. I am freaking out right now! Thank goodness I have an appointment today so I can ask about this. Please keep your fingers crossed that this is not true.

Here is the post she copied to me:

"Save the North Shore Birth Center

I know its in MA but a lot of women from all over go there.I've heard
some horrible news. There has been a change in hospital administration
at Beverly hospital and with a new board of trustees the want to do
away with all births at the north shore birth center. Women will still
be able to see the midwife for thier prenatal care at the bc but will
have to deliver at the hospital. This is horrible and we need to
support those midwives. The board of trustees are meeting on Nov 18 to
vote for all bc patients to delivery at the hospital.

Any ideas on how to help?"

That's horrible! Sounds like the hospital administration is trying to save money. Maybe there is some way to file a petition with the board to keep the birth center going. I'm eager to see what they say.

*Thank you kiliki for the siggy!*

I hope it's not true! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's just a crazy rumor of some sort.

That's terrible! I hope it's not true.

I think the only thing would be to get a signed petition from all who support the BC. Unfortunately it will need to be signed by a lot of persons and patients in order for it to hold up.

Thank you Helen for my beautiful siggy!
