So I have decided to have a water birth with this baby.
I just havent had ideal births with my boys and want to do things MY WAY! So since this is our last and my unsuportive husband will be deployed I am doing what I want and what I think is best for our baby...

Luckily I am seeing a great dr. The hospital (yes but not like the ones in states) has a birthing tub so I am going when I cant handle the contractions, getting in the tub and laboring and birthing then going home within 4 hrs if everything goes well....

The hopsitals here are great. We are in Germany. They do everything from acupuncture to massage therapy to help you through the pain. They let you birth any way you want. They even have the bed with the hole in it for squatting and birthing. They try EVERYTHING to help you labor med free.

The rooms are cozy and they dim the lights for deliver. I am jsut thrilled about this. I think having that kind of help and support will help me tremendously..

A home birth is just not an option for us so I think this is the next best thing.

Has anyone else had a water birth? What was your experience? Also did you have someone come in and take pictures? I think I am going to ask my sister to take pics.

Thanks for sharing.

I think it's great that you are in a place that will help achieve your goal! My last was a waterbirth, and my first was water labor. It really does help ease the pain. I will never have another birth out of water. It was wonderful.

My mom actually video taped it. Although she almost missed the delivery. I was only in the tub about an hour before she was born and no one but DH was in the room 2 minutes before she was born! lol

If you want to see the video it's here:

Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend it!

That's great, it will be such a relief to get to birth this baby the way you are comfortable. I am hoping for a water birth with this baby. The closest I got to it with my first is a short shower right after my water broke, but my contractions weren't very strong yet. I have heard the pain level described as going from an 8, to a 3 when laboring in the water, so I'm excited to give it a try. I know in Europe things are more geared towards midwifery-type care instead of obstetric type care, which can make a natural birth more easy to achieve. I hope everything goes smoothly for you, it sounds like it's well on it's way!

Sounds like you have a great plan! I had a water birth w/ my first... just posted my story a few days ago so it should be a few posts down if you want to read it! Also my husband is in the military and will be deployed when I have this baby, so I can totally relate to that if you ever want to chat! : )

Yay for waterbirth! I have only had one baby and she was a waterbirth, so I have no comparison, but I LOVED it. It was awesome. I don't want to do it any other way now. I am planning one this time around, too.
