If you've had your baby:

As more time passes from when you gave birth do you find yourself remembering certain details that you didn't put in your birth plan?

If you have not had your baby yet:

What has been the most encouraging advice that you've been given that makes you more confident that you will achieve your NCB?

Since it's only been a week, nothing has popped in my mind yet. It was in general to be very detailed in my planning, even though I really didn't have the chance to use most of the stuff I'd prepared. For example, I spent hours on my birth plan. There are 3 different versions of it! And I never had the chance to even pull it out! But simply knowing I'd done the preparation made me feel more in control.

I don't know if there is specific advice that has made me more confident but reading all of your successful NCB's surely have. I hold myself up to a pretty high standard and know I'm too stubborn to not succeed. And I know for sure I'll have all of your successful stories in my mind pushing me along. There's no way in h$ll I won't be able to do it after I know Cindy was successful on pitocin!

Best advice I've ever received was to take it one contraction at a time and to have excellent support people around!

Yes, the details of my previous births did become more clear. Mostly, what I want to do differently this time. Looking back, I can see exactly why things went the way the did both on my NCB and my medicated birth.

I spent a ton of time preparing my birth plan. My husband took it so super seriously! In the end it probably didn't matter much for anyone else, but I know it was important for us and it was a great ritual to get ready. So nope, I don't think we forgot anything, but I know we had to remind others of what was on it a bunch of times!

No advice, just the quote someone had in a siggy:

"We have a secret in our culture, and itís not that birth is painful. Itís that women are strong.Ē

I find it so succinct and just true.

^^^^ Love that!!!!
I LOVE to prove people wrong ---so everytime I hear "just wait" or "you'll change your mind"....its the best motivation for me!! My BFF (I was her doula) had her baby with MAX pitocin doses all natural.....she didn't remember getting the drug even because she was so in the zone! I had to remind her not only YES she got it--but it was MAXED, she actually argued about it with me until the father backed me up!!!!!

seeing the reality of what birth is has made me KNOW I can do it naturally and very non interventive. I've seen the pretty side- the ugly side and everything in between and can take it for what it is.
