Today my mom and doula went with me to an orientation at the birth center that I'll be giving birth at. I was very nervous and anxious to see what it was like since it's attached to a hospital. The birth center I had Irelyn at was a free standing birth center and I LOVED it so I was afraid I was going to be disappointed by this place but I wasn't, it's awesome! It's attached to the hospital but separate from labor and delivery and they run things their own way there. They are 100% pro-natural birth and they have labor tubs. I'll be free to eat, move around, try any postitions I want, have no interventions or monitoring, etc. I can have as little or as many visitors as I want. Basically, everything is my way! The rooms are like hotel suites, so nice! And they don't even have a nursery, so the baby will be with me the whole time. The one downfall is I have to stay 24 hours (I went home 4 hours post partum with Irelyn) but I guess I'll live. I met the nurses that run the place and they answered all my questions and were so sweet. I really feel so much more comfortable and confident now. This is exactly what I needed to get me re-engergized and excited about this birth and my baby boy! : ) Oh, and I have to go back there in a month to discuss my birth plan with the nurses. YAY!

that is great!!! I love my birth center, it is a stand alone. I am happy that things worked out for you. It is nice that they are pretty seperate from L&D.

I'm glad you love it! None of hte hospitals here have birthing centers seperate from the rest of L&D, but I hope I get to see them someday!
