I have a random question...

Lately I've been making up raspberry tea (like, a half gallon at a time), and keeping it in the fridge to drink over a couple of days (not over doing it)...My DH keeps teasing me about trying to put myself into labor, because that's what his mom always did to try to bring on labor...but I had always heard that it was healthy to drink throughout pregnancy, especially in your last trimester!

What do you ladies think? Is there any reason I should avoid it? Just wondering what you all have heard...

I was under the impression that it is contraindicated in pregnancy except when trying to induce labor, so I would be on your DH's side, from my understanding. Is it raspberry leaf tea (as in the herb) or raspberry flavored tea? two very different things

Pregnancy tea, or red raspberry leaf tea is fine in moderation (just like most anything else!) throughout your childbearing years. My midwives recommend drinking it throughout (up to 1-2 cups a day) until 37 weeks and then they say no limit, get as much as you want. LOL
Even my prenatal vitamin has red raspberry leaf in it as it is great at toning your uterus to prepare it for a good labor. In moderation, it shouldn't hyperstimulate the uterus.

Closer to your due date, you could double the strength and brew twice as many tea bags per cup to make it a more powerful concoction

And yes, raspberry tea (as in flavored like raspberries) is not the same thing as the red raspberry LEAF tea, which is made from the raspberry plant but not the fruit

Raspberry Zinger from Celestial Seasonings does has raspberry leaf in it, but not as much as the actual RRLT does. It tastes better though. If DH is worried about it, keep drinking the Zinger, since it has the leaf in it, but not too much, and then switch to the other stuff later.

Yeah, he is cute. Fortunately, he's not the type to freak out about anything...He just likes to give me a hard time! ...
Being the oldest of 11 children, and working as a Paramedic, he really does know quite a bit more than most first time daddies...I don't think he was really all that concerned, just curious about it's affects since that's what his mom would use to bring on labor.
