Well, DH and I went to meet the homebirth midwives today (it is a husband and wife team) and they are great. DH got to ask all his questions and now feels totally confident about doing this homebirth. They are pretty hippyish and really wonderful....I think I'm really going to click well with them. I am getting exciting...this is starting to feel real now.

That is so exciting! Glad you clicked with them well and DH is comfortable with them as well. It's so important since Dad's are often leary about homebirth.

He was definitely leary at first but I have been working on him for a while and then after talking to the midwives and getting all his questions answered (about safety and about insurancy/cost), he's good to go. The midwives encourage the husband to be as involved as possible so DH may even catch the baby this time.
They spent the last several years in the Philipines with a non-profit doing midwifery there and setting up free maternity clinics. The nearest hospital when they were there was 3 hours down a very bumpy road so they have lots of great experience with all kinds of situations at homebirths.
They very much believe that birth is a natural process that our bodies were made for and that it is not a medical emergency (at least not a majority of the time).

THat is awesome!!!!

When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." John 8:7
