Today was my routine checkup with my midwife, I haven't seen her since Sunday when I was in L&D for preterm labor. The first thing she says when she comes in: "Wow, your belly has gotten a lot bigger since Sunday!"
Just what every pregnant woman wants to hear, right? Anyway, she feels my stomach, and then measures my fundal height, which is 39 weeks ()...and she says she thinks it's all baby. She estimates the baby to be 7 pounds already (*gasp*)...and the HB is good and strong. No worries there.

She wanted to check my fluid level and do a biophysical profile on the baby (as well as check size), so she ordered me an ultrasound! I was so excited.
So I go to the u/s room and the lady looks everything over. The u/s estimate of baby was 37w 4d, and the weight was 6 pounds 14 ounces. I know this can be off by about a pound, but even at 5' 14" that's a pretty big 35-weeker. We saw some pretty cute chubby cheeks and baby was breathing on its own the entire hour we were there. So I guess this baby's going to do fine whenever it decides to come now. The biophysical score was 8 out of 8.

So that's my update. Obviously we're still trying to make 36 weeks, but everyone's pretty confident this child is pretty developed already. I can't believe the size, and neither could my midwife. She said I bake babies faster than anyone she's dealt with. But anyway, I'm happy that everything looks good and we should be fine.

Hi, I'm Sara. I used to post here a lot when I was having the kids, but life got busy and it's been years since I was around. Now I'm back, and happy to be here.

that's good news! Some babies just cook faster. I would bet baby makes an appearance a bit early. But it sounds like that shouldn't be a big deal.

Everyone is different, some need 42 weeks or even longer and other bake their babies fast so that they are ready at 36-37 weeks. Your babe will come when he's nice and ready. Glad you had a great appointment.

I'm so glad to hear that the baby looked so good and that it was breathing the whole time. I hope you make it to 36 weeks but either way I'm sure everything will be fine. Yay!
