Hi All,

I came across a website about hypnobirthing. I was curious if anyone has taken the courses and how they worked for you?

Thanks so much,

I took a hypnobirthing course with my daughter and really liked it. I plan to use it again for this next birth. But, I know of several people that took it and it didn't really click with them or it didn't work for them. Hypnobabies is supposed to have a much higher success rate.

Hi Linda,

I took a HypnoBirthing class and have read my HypnoBirthing book as well as practiced the breathing methods with the CDs. I don't think that I've done nearly as much practicing as I should but I'm hoping that the relaxation techniques will help me through birth.

Unfortunately, I don't know if these methods will work yet or not (our LO is due August 19th). I'll be happy to post once my LO is born though.

Sorry that doesn't really answer your question.

I used Hypnobirthing with both of my babies and loved it. I've heard that Hypnobabies is more effective but I believe it can be done with either quite well.

I don't have any exerience with it myself, other than reading the book when I was pregnant with my daughter. I do plan on doing hypnobirthing or hypnobabies with my next though.

Thanks ladies! I am going to talk to DH about it and see what he thinks, since he would be taking the classes with me. I am thinking that since I suffer from anxiety anyways, it might be worthwhile for me and maybe I can use some of the techniques afterwards anyways.

I am doing the HypnoBabies home study. I'm enjoying it, and I definitely think it will help. I had to have a version to turn my stubborn breach baby, and I got to practice my relaxation techniques (versions are painful!) and it really helped. The midwife and nurse told me afterwards they'd never see anyone relax so successfully during a version.

Angela (SoIMarriedANerd) just had her baby a couple days ago, and she used HypnoBabies too. My mom used self-hypnosis with her fourth baby and swears by it now.

And if you try it and decide maybe it isn't for you, at the very least it helps with relaxation. I know Angela and I both sleep FAR better on nights we do our hypnobabies practice. The nights we skip it, we toss and turn.

Good luck making your choice. I think either would definitely help you.

I used HypnoBabies with my last LO. It was great, and I recommend it to everyone. Well, everyone that's willing to go NCB.

One reason why I think the program would be good for you is because of your anxiety, and your DH being involved. In HypnoBabies, there is even a book, specifically for your partner, as he is supposed to practice with you. For the anxiety, one of the CD is specifically for fears/anxiety. It helped me immensely with my issues, and helped me feel great, even going to almost 42 weeks.
