Is it ideal for you to have tons of family and friends around you, involving everyone in your wonderful birth, just a select few or just a private mommy/daddy/baby experience (aside from the midwives, drs, etc...

Thank you for my beautiful siggy Vicki!

See my growing belly!

I don't really pay attention much to who is there, I get too into what I'm doing. But I've always had people around (family and attendants). Seriously considering with the next having just DH and the girls aside from midwife/doula

I had Denise (momof2goddesses) in the room with both kids. With David my mom and sister were also there. But with Katelynn it was just Denise some nurses and the doctor ran in to catch lol. Ideally for our next birth I would like to just share in the moments with my husband since I have never given birth with him there before.

My first was born with just DH and the doctors/nurses. With my second DD, I had DH, my mom, sister and midwives there. I would really like to have a home birth next time and have just DH and my midwife there for the birth. I'm glad I could share the experience with my family last time, but I'd really like for it to be a little more private next time.

with my daughter it was my husband, our Doula, the nurse and then the midwife at the end. This time we are having a homebirth, it was be DH, our midwife, our daughter (who knows if she will be awake for much of it, depends on the time of day I guess) and then I think 2 assistants. That's a lot really when I consider it! No family or anything like that other than my husband and daughter.

With my first- medicated- I had everyone in there while I labored. My parents, his parents, sister, sister-in-laws. It was a mad house. No wonder I felt pressured to get the epi. lol I learned my lesson from that experience and how much I hated my mom in my face and taking over DH's job. I knew that with the next one I wanted only me and DH and possibly a Doula. I never got the Doula and was okay with that because it was a 2 hour birth from start to finish so I don't think anyone would have had time to make it there anyway. And DH and I got some awesome bonding time together.
Married 7 years to my wonderful Dh

For me, I prefer to have it very private with just me and DH, my midwife and this time a doula as well. (then at the time of the actual delivery there will also be 2 delivery nurses as required by the hospital)

With Lily I had the CNM and 2 nurses, plus DH, my best friend, and one of DH's sisters. I could have done without my SIL, but she has been present at almost all of their niece/nephews births and isn't having her own kids and DH asked if she could be there. I didn't really notice her in the room, so it ended up being fine.

This time we are having a homebirth and it'll be the 2 midwives, Lily, DH, my best friend and most likely my SIL again. My SIL and my best friend are coming this time to help with Lily (take her to the park, occupy her, etc) if she isn't doing well with being around for the birth. My parents live with us but they're supposed to be out of town for a 5 week range around when I'm due so I'm hoping they are gone.

I loved having everyone there. It was a true birthday party! My mom even joked about getting a cake for my second. If we hadn't had to go to the hospital, more people would have joined us.

Our plan is just me DH (baby ) and our midwives. And the cats! I might like my parents but my mom is in a wheelchair so it can be hard and Dh isn't really comfortable with them there - so it'll just be us. My BF has offered to come over if DH needs a break - or we need her - she just live a few blocks away so that's great.

Thank you Kiliki for my first beautiful Siggie!

It was just my DH and the nurses/doctor and I am SO GLAD it was just us. I really needed it to be quiet in there for me to focus on what I was doing and I can't even fathom having a bunch of people in the room chatting and hanging out. Plus it was just such a special time when she was actually born that I don't think I'd want to share that with anyone besides my husband.

All I want in the room is my SO, my doula, possibly my mom and bff, and the midwives/nurses. Everyone else can wait.

Thank you *Kiliki* for my siggy

it was just DH & I...and my nurse never left my side (I really needed her, she became my doula more or less)...my midwife was in and out, and stayed as much as I needed her to. Next time I'm getting a doula and I really want a birth photographer. I also think I might want my friend Natalie there - who has become my best friend and we met in Bradley class so I think that would be really great too!

We had friends ask to come while I was in labor, but since I was being induced Id didn't want anyone there who might mention drugs.

For me it wasn't ideal to have anyone else in there except for DH...

With all the stress and emotional heart ache my family put me through during pregnancy and the future stress and emotional heart ache from my family in the future was setting on my mind during labor... to have them in the room would have made it much worse... I am very content with it being just me and hubby...

We have just me and DH and my doctor and a nurse. I fully concentrate while giving birth and wouldn't want the distraction of others staring at me or asking me how I am. For us, it is such an emotional, amazing experience that I don't want to share it with extended family. They can come later. I don't like to call them when I'm in labor or let them know until the baby is born and a couple of hours old. Those first few hours are so precious, I don't want to have everyone wanting their turn with the baby. I carried him/her for 9 months, I need a little time with just the three of us. Plus, it gives us time to decide and finalize a name.

For my last birth it was 2 midwives, my Doula, DH, birth photographer and a close family friend. I wasn't sure how I would do during pushing so I waited until she was born and the kids came right in. Now that the kids are older I will give them a choice. I birth at home so it's easy for them to come and go as they please.

One of my favorite memories after her birth was everyone sitting in our bedroom eating strawberry shortcake. It was truly a fun birthday party atmosphere

With Brayden it was just DH and the nurses. I actually preferred it that way, I'm a private person and my mom was annoying enough with her constant texts and calls. This time it will be DH, the midwife & her assistant, my doula, and hopefully someone not involved in the birth to watch Brayden. If I can find someone to do photography then they'd be there too.

Man, my bathroom just got really crowded.

I prefer to be alone with just the doc and nurse. My husband will be with me, but I'd rather have him stay home with the kids. I get so inhibited that I can't let my body do it's thing because I am shy to make a noise. I hope I can get over that before the birth so my husband can experience this with me.
