This always bugs me too. I always nurse covered up, but that is for my comfort not for the comfort of others. And I will never go and nurse in a restroom! I hardly want to relieve myself in there let alone feed in it! If I had to I'd nurse in my car first. No one has ever told me to stop breastfeeding in public, but if they did they would get a big piece of my mind! My state does have BF laws protecting the mother so... I better never hear it.

I know Michigan does have laws protecting breastfeeding mothers. We are legally able to breastfeed anywhere and plop both breasts out if we want

Ooo, Flint, that's not far, maybe I should really make them uncomfortable and nurse my toddler while I'm eating dinner

That's terrible! Who eats in a bathroom? Most of the time I don't even want to pee in a public bathroom they are so nasty, let alone feed someone in one!!

Coming out of lurking to say that this happened to me last year in a PEDIATRIC emergency room! I was nursing my baby who was just a few months old at the time in the waiting room and the security guard came up BEHIND me and peeked over my shoulder (totally taking in an unnecessary eyeful) and told me to "go ahead and cover up" and followed that up by saying that he "didn't mind" personally but that other people might! I wasn't going to say anything about it but when my Dh showed up a few minutes later I told him about and he asked to speak to whoever was in charge right then. Within a half hour a hospital administrator came to talk to us and apologized and said that the security guard's actions were not congruent with hospital policy. I didn't want anyone to be in trouble just to be made aware that its okay to nurse in the waiting room.

On another note a friend of mine was asked to cover up at the library in our very small town. She went home and printed out the law and brought it back up to the librarian who then got really testy with her!

Thank you Kiliki for my awesome siggy!
