So, I've been wondering how common it is to be walking around 4cm (or possibly more now?) dilated/very thin w/ bulging waters for a week now with no "real" (as in painful) contractions. I barely feel my contractions at all, which, on one hand, makes me VERY THANKFUL, but on the other hand, makes me wonder if I will make it to the hospital in time once labor starts or my water breaks.

I was thinking about trying some natural induction methods this weekend, i.e. nipple stimulation, acupressure, etc. Any BTDT moms have suggestions that worked for them? I feel like the clock is ticking to my induction date, and I'd much rather use a natural method than pitocin.

With the nipple stimulation, is it better to use a breast pump? Also, I'm slightly terrified of castor oil, but I might use it as a last resort the day before my induction is scheduled. Anything I should know about this?

Thanks in advance!!

Thank you peimum for my awesome siggy!

I would definately do walking uphill/stairs for at least 20 minutes every 3 hours or so...

I recommend nipple stimulation with a breast pump as well... and also using a birthing ball just to sit and rock helping baby to move on down the canal more and put more pressure on the cervix...

And if you feel comfortable maybe some orgasms... but castor oil would be an absolute last resort!

Good luck!!!

I don't want to discourage you, but I tried everything except castor oil, and nothing worked. I did nipple stim, orgasms, walking, stairs, exercise ball, cumin tea, um, watermelon, and I can't think what else, but basically everything suggested to me by everyone I asked. DS was born at 41 wks 6 days...

After all that, what I suggest is to just relax. Also, you can refuse the induction, can't you? I did. I would focus on refusing the induction more than on trying to get baby to come before he's ready.
