I've lurked on this board forever, since the topic is close to my heart, but haven't officially introduced myself. I keep trying and trying to get more involved in my DDC, but I'm just not feeling it.

My name is Rachael and I am pg with my 3rd and last child. I had a typical hospital/epidural bad experience with my first baby, and an almost magical experience with a water birth at a free standing birth center with my 2nd. Obviously, I'm hoping for repeat of that latter birth this time.

I'm not particularly "crunchy" per se, but I feel very strongly about certain issues relating to pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting that apparently are not mainstream. I'm the ONLY person in my ddc NOT delivering in a hospital, which I think is weird. I'm not even that 'out there' in my beliefs and yet I feel like the only person who is willing to question certain things. People are loving scheduled inductions, sections, epis, shipping their baby off to the nursery, thoughtless circs, and bottles. I can only imagine what it's going to be like when more babies come. Since I'm due right at the end of the month, I've thought about joining another ddc, but I feel like its too late...

Anyhoo, I just wanted to officially jump in here so I can vent and find some women that I can relate to.

I don't post a ton here myself, but I could have written that second paragraph myself. I just had my 3rd baby and while it wasn't a repeat of my amazing second waterbirth, it was another great experience at the birthing center.

Welcome. I look forward to getting to know you better!

Welcome! I'm Courtney, mommy to 2.5 year old Liliana (Lily) and almost 7 month old Abrielle (Abri). Lily's birth was the typical epidural hospital birth, but Abri was my NCB.

Happy to see you stop lurking and join us! My name is Bethany and I'm the co-host here. I have three children: Kaily (8), Kelly (3) and Kate (5.5 mo). My oldest and youngest were all natural births, with my son I was induced but still pain med free.

I'm sorry you feel a little left out in your DDC. It's somewhat common unfortunately for us NCB'ers. You are more than welcome to hang out here instead!

Thank you Kiliki for my wonderfull siggie!

Hello - thanks for introducing yourself
I second trying out our Jan DDC, I now there are a few NCB'ers there and even a few like myself that are birthing outside of the hospital environment

And I totally get how you feel about your thoughts on birth. I feel left out even within my own family (my mom can't understand why i wouldn't want pain meds *sigh*)
Thank you to Kiliki for my Siggy
