This website is pretty awesome and has great stuff on it. It got me to thinking....

What essentials did you HAVE to have for your labor and birth? Were there any specific tools/supplies that you couldn't do without?

The only thing I had to have was hot water and my husband! My labor was fast and hard and there was really no downtime for futzing with anything else. I wore one of those soft crossover sleep nursing bras in labor and definitely will do one again.

Attempting a VBAC in the hospital with this next one, and I need snacks and drinks in the labor bag too. I am sure I will bring everything I can possibly think of since I won't be home where everything is at my fingertips!

I needed my Hypnobabies tracks and my husband to rub my back for 4 hours straight I was freezing during labor so I spent a good part of it covered in a big fluffy blanket so I'm going to make sure that blanket is handy next time.

I WAY overpacked. The only thing I used were my footie slippers and then clothes to change into afterwards plus the camera. I was at the birth center 12 hours total and that includes labor. I brought small little soaps and shampoos that I thought I'd want, Nah! They asked if I wanted to bathe and I just said I was ready to go home.

Early on, my fuzzy socks with traction soles for pacing. For most of the labor, ditto the husband and hot water. The shower was amazing.

I packed a lot of things I thought I'd want, but there wasn't much else I couldn't have done without.

My pillow! I have a down pillow that goes with me. Comfy for labor nice to fall back against after delivery and for that first night I put it by my side and make a "cradle" out of it so I don't have to panic if I accidentally fall asleep while nursing.
