Not sure this is the right board to post in. However I'll give it a go. With my first two kiddos I saw an OB because their were no birth centers in the area. Well alot has changed in the last 6 years and I just booked my first midwife appointment. Yippie. Next week I'll get a dating ultrasound, but they said there wont be a blood test involved. With both of my others I got the blood test prior to the ultrasound to check HCG and progesterone levels. Is this typical in a low intervention practice?

This is typical, and Iím sure you can specially request anything you feel would make you more comfortable. You could also ask and they will give you reasons why their practice doesnít do such and such. I hope everything goes well for you, I prefer a hands off midwifery approach myself! But if you want anything extra for peace of mind never be afraid to ask, because your peace of mind is important from the start for a healthy birth.
