Hi. I'm Mellie and hope to be joining properly very very soon. I've lurked on and off over the last few months and have wanted to post but felt kinda silly when we weren't even WTTC at that stage (we are now). I was hoping my first would be a natural birth but it unfortunately was not. I believe the main reason to be the lack of support I had during my pregnancy. My DH was great it was just everyone else. My mother said some pretty rude and mean things to me and was anything but supportive. Right down to telling DH and I we were selfish for not allowing her to be present during the birth but allowing a "stranger" (my doula) to be there. I'm hoping that this time if I get the support and encouragement right off the bat I will have much more luck in getting the birth I want.

Thanks to Claire1979 for the amazing siggy.

My mother is pretty mean too. Fortunately she lives in India and I've banned her from coming for the delivery. All she tries to do is control me and everyone else and throws hissy fits if things don't go her way. I told her about my wanting a homebirth and she screamed at me so I hung up on her. You might consider not having your mother over at all for several weeks after the birth.[/b]
Fantastic advice!

Hi and welcome , I know you'll get all the steam you need to deal with those that don't give support you from here , once you get to talking to others who DO support you it helps allot , I think at some point in our lives we just have to learn how to say to our loved ones you don't have to understand or agree with what I want but if you love me you will show your support , and if you can't than keep it too yourself ! Good luck with your TTC !
