i'm due this weekend. i haven't been having real contractions, but i've had alot of BHx. i've been bleeding on and off for about the past 4 days and i called the midwife and she said it's just from my cervix changing and getting ready for labor. i can't get up and walk around much because i have a bad ankle and it gets REALLY swollen (think sausage with WAY WAY too much stuffing LMAO) so i'm trying to stay off my feet as much as possible. my DH doens't want to DTD because i don't think he's ready for me to have the baby ( i honestly didn't think i'd be this ready either, but hey - I AM! )

so, what can i do? i know the major things to do...castor oil, spicy food, walking, dtd, but WHAT ELSE??? i'm willing to try just about anything! and i'm really interested to hear everyone's ideas!

This is a topic that really interests me too. I haven't found anything that works yet or else I would let you know. I have not progressed at all since week 36 when I was found to be 1cm dilated and 40% effaced. I can't believe I have made no progress despite the fact that I have been in excruciating pelvic and cervical pain, have been having what I thought were "real" contractions at least occasionally, have been taking evening primrose oil and DTD with DH on a daily basis for the past 2 weeks despite the pain. I haven't even progressed to the point where the doctor could strip my cervix yet, even though I have had that done at least 7 times with my past two pregnancies and it didn't work then either. I am seriously considering castor oil TODAY, but I have enough digestive issues so I'm reluctant.

Hopefully someone out there has some good advice for us!

Nipple stimulation , orgasm ( you don't always need hubby for that ) Blue and black cohosh ( ask you midwife or OB about this ) , drive down some nice bumpy roads , if you have a birthing ball sit and bounce on it , swinging at the park , talk to your baby let them know your ready if they are . Umm , i know more but cant think of them right now , I would NEVER do castrol oil though , too much risk of dehydration ect for me , and it's too bad you can't walk much cause thats what I did with my lil boy , I walked myself into labor lol .

Hmmm.... spicy food caused some major contractions that apparently changed me from not being dilated at all to being 2cm overnight (ok, maybe the sex helped, too, but I'm attributing it to the contractions caused by the spicy food ).

All in all, though, I think that baby will come when he/she is ready, and nothing short of medical invention will change that.
