I have never posted here, but I post on the October DDC. My name is Kelly. I have two girls, Kourtney (3.5) and McKenna (2). I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with a boy.

Brief history of births:

#1 - 6 days late, went into labor on my own, but was given pitocin when I arrived at LD. Vaginal hospital birth with epidural. Baby weighed 8lbs, 12 oz
#2 - went to hospital for induction at 41 weeks. Vaginal hospital birth with epidural. Baby weighed 9lbs. Epidural complications that made me NEVER want a needle in my back again!

I am planning a home birth with a midwife this time and I am very excited. However, I am a little nervous about being late again. At my last appointment, she mentioned if I went to 42 weeks we would do some tests to make sure the baby was okay. I am afraid that if I do go that long, my baby will be HUGE! Who wants to be 42 weeks pregnant?!?!? I didn't really say anything at the moment because I wanted to process it and get my information together. I don't want to go to 42 weeks... and then see if the baby is okay... and wait.

I have another appointment with her tomorrow and I have been reading up on natural ways to induce. I just wanted any opinions on here before my appointment tomorrow. She is a very laid back practitioner and I think she would be agreeable to what I am comfortable with (I THINK). My plan would be to do some type of natural intervention at 41 weeks if I have not gone into labor.

Does anyone here have any experience with natural induction or have any advice for when I talk to her?

Proud mommy to Kourtney Lauren (10/01/03), McKenna Grace (07/11/05), and Blake Matthew (10/21/07)

Well I don't really put much sock in due dates , I mean some babies just bake longer ya know ? I personally would be fine going to 43 weeks as long as everything is ok then risk baby coming before he/she was really ready but the I love being pg and I understand not everyone has an easy time with it . Now I am going for a VBAC this time so I am will not be inducing medically ( not that I would want to anyway ) so I am looking into natural induction methods to try , but not until I hit at least 39 weeks . Some things I will be doing to ready myself is EPO and red raspberry leaf tea , these are not as much for induction but for preparing , then walking which is what I did with my lil boy , nipple stimulation , DTD , and I am reading up on black and blue cohosh but have not yet decided on them yet and as for getting my membranes stripped I may as a last resort but do not plan on it at this point , I know I will not be trying castor oil though . The one thing I do like about natural inductions is that they really don't do much unless you are ready which is something to keep in mind .
