I don't know if anybody remembers this but after my repeat D&C several months ago, my high risk OB told me that he would perform a Hysteroscopy on me for free (no insurance right now). Well, every month I have tried to get ahold of him and he's never been able to do it. Yesterday, when I started spotting, I called him and he said he could do it this Saturday!

The thing is I need AF to come and get over with (at least mostly over with). As of today, I'm still just spotting some old blood. Come on AF!

My question is, have you ever had a Hysteroscopy and how was it? Was it painful or uncomfortable? Did it yield alot of information?

Thanks everyone,

My Ob was going to do this, but my Re said it wasn't necessary to do that unless the HSG showed something abnormal. I wish I could help more. From what I was told about it - I don't think it is supposed to be any more painful than an HSG & that wasn't too terrible & the worst of it was over fairly quickly. After having been through a mc & then the follow-up nightmare you had hun - this will be a cake walk I am sure.

Candace, I have had this done. It really wasn't too bad. I had the hysteroscopy and the laparoscopy done at the same time so I had an incision in my belly button also. The hysteroscopy part is pretty easy, kind of like having an D&C (if you are under anaesthesia). So basically you are in and out and he goes inside with the scope and looks around. It's not foolproof, my OB did mine in 2001 and didn't spot a uterine septum while in there looking around. He didn't find it until 2005 while performing a D&C. The recovery time is about the same as a D&C also. I did take a week off work but only because of the laparoscopy.
