Me and bf are not married...we would both like for the child to have his last name. Does he have to pay for the child to have his last name since we're not married? He was informed by a counselor of this in the state of Colorado. I can't seem to find the right information online about this. Links keep taking me to get another copy of an already existing birth certificate. Where is the right information on this stuff????? HELP!! Thanks in advance.

Any of the people that I know that have been in that situation.... as long as you list his name as the father on the B/C ... then the child can have the same last name as either the mother or the father upon request with no extra catches or paperwork...... meaning ... no it wouldn't cost anything or be any different than using your last name as long as you list him as the father.

You shouldn't have any problem giving the baby your b/f's last name, as long as he is listed as the father on the birth certificate. Just give the hospital, you plan to give birth at, and ask them. They should know for sure!

You can give a baby any last name you wish.
John and I are not married yet and I still gave Zoe his last name.

I dunno about his name being listed on the b/c it shouldnt be a problem we just had some other issues due to my previous marriage and me not being completly divorced.
