Do you give your children an allowance? If so, how much is it, are there certain requirements for getting it and do they get a raise? We give our DD $5 a week. All she has to do is make sure her room is clean, pick up after herself and take care of the cats. That\'s it! When she\'s 13 it\'ll probably go up, but we\'ll see.

Ally isn't old enough yet but I can see doing it when she is older. I got one when I was growing up.

I've thought about allowance for my stepson (well it was his dads idea) and I just don't know..

Anytime you ask him to do anything (like clean your room) it's like pulling teeth..

He does his own laundry only because I told him I wasn't going to do it anymore if he was going to save me 2wks worth of laundry and just throw it all on the dirty clothes pile.. if he gave me each days dirty clothes ok.. but he couldn't handle that so now he waits until 9pm on sunday night before school to do his laundry..

he's old enough and I told him at his next bday (15) that he should get a work permit at school and I'd let him get a job and earn some money.. He has no concept of any of it at the moment..
