I had to visit my DH at his work so we could go to the DMV together at lunch and get my car new plates, new license, etc. Afterwards I went to the local Goodwill store by myself. I was checking out and did a doubletake at the clerk. I recognized her, but wasn't sure. Then she blurted out, "I think you're my cousin." I stared at her blankly. "Yeah, Scott (DH) is my cousin." So I finally recognized her as my DH's cousin on his mom's side and we exchanged "how are you"s. It took me the entire 20 minute drive home for me to remember her name, though. The last time I saw her was at DH's grandpa's funeral over 1.5 years ago.

My DH is estranged from his mom's side of the family. They mostly live 20 minutes from us but it may as well be across the country. I try not to get involved.

But she called me her cousin. That might count for progress, right?

Well that's nice. At least she accepts you as family and was nice to you and it sounds like happy to see you! That's great!

Being that your DH is estranged from that side of the family..it was nice that she acknowledged you!

I'm glad she said hi! That is definitely progress...

And really o/t but hm. So I'm pretty sure that you kind of look like me. This is the second siggy of yours that has made me think so. lol. I almost said it before, but I thought it might be a coincidence. (as in just one pic with a certain angle, ykwim?)
