I saw the endo I was referred to from my primary doc. Well lets just say I now need a new Endo and a new Primary. If you have time to read this I will explain here....I was diagnoised in 2002 with Hypothyroidism when I started losing a ton of hair and felt off after the birth of my first son (dec 2001). He was 8 or 9 months old and my breastmilk diminished greatly. I was put on synthroid and it did nothing for me, then I was put on other synthetics without good results. I floated around from 2001 to 2003 feeling horrible until I finally was put on Armour, because I faught every doc to have it. I went through a ton of doctors looking for one who would work with me. I finally started to feel better in 2004 and by 2005 I was feeling soooo good! My monthly cycles were every 28 days for the first time and I had good energy. Thats when I conceived our second son. I felt so great through out my pregnancy and wanted another baby right away. With my first I felt so horrible I never dreamed I would be pregnant again. So I had my third son 2 yrs after my second. And I was doing great until I accidently took too much iodine and was off armour for a week. Now I am suffering big time and trying to get Armour which is so hard to do and find a doc to give me nature-throid.
Now here we are, after seeing the endo he basically threw synthroid at me. I took it with the idea that I would continue to find a doctor to help me get nature-throid. Well I took synthroid this AM and feel off, it just isnt for me and yeah I know it seems weird to have a reaction after just one pill but I am so nauseated and feel quick to anger and just weird. I know some of the things I mentioned also related to low thyroid but I didnt feel them until I took synthroid. I was taking armour for a week but only had 25 pills left.
This endo I saw stated that Armour was horrible and inconsistent and that if I ever became pregnant again he would take me off it imediately and put me on synthroid. He said babies dont make T3 and therefor I am putting a foreign something in their body. IS HE KIDDING ME?
So I call him back today and say I am not really comfortable with the synthroid. He said he would give me levoxyl I said how about Nature throid. He said I told you I didnt like or agree with it and dont prescribe it. I said well why do you want to mess around with tons of different meds when we know armour works so well for me and has since 2003. Why not just stick with something similar.
Well he has been basically saying no, but when my 25 pills run out he will talk to me then. Which basically means to me he is waiting until I have no chance of getting any natural pills and have to take synthroid.
So I am looking for a new endo and a new primary...or a primary that will listen to me because I really dont need an endo.
Why wont docs listen!? We know our bodies better than they do....all they know is a one size fits all and if it doesnt fit make it fit.

That's suck CRAP!! I took Armour with my whole pg with Oliver w/o a single incident! Synthroid is actually the one that is inconsistent. ITA with getting a new endo! The fact that you know Armour works and Synthroid doesn't and yet he ignored that and prescribed Synthroid anyway suggests that he can care less about YOU! That's not the dr I'd care to have. *HUGS* Hang in there. Check out the sticky for local drs by you that will prescribe Armour or Nature-Throid. Please KUP!

ITA with Stacey & you that he wants you to run out so that you're stuck!!! My endo was the same way! This is where I finally found a decent dr... Thyroid Top Doctors -- Best Thyroid Doctors in the World as Nominated by Patients, from Patient Advocate Mary Shomon. GL & KUP.
