I had my thyroid tested before I got pregnant because I have a HUGE family history of hypothyroidism. My test levels came back normal. Now 6 months after the birth of my son I am experiencing many symptoms, some of the biggest being daily headaches, tiredness, mood swings/occasional depression, and hair loss. But these could all be symptoms of the daily stresses of being a mother!
For those of you who have developed post partum thyroiditis, what symptoms did you have?

I had no clue my thyroid function shut down during or soon after pregnancy. I chalked everything up to having a newborn and working. Very very tired, depressed, low energy, no libido, dry skin, delayed PPAF. I was diagnosed 8 months postpartum with no thyroid function at all.

I was diagnosed when DS1 was 3mos old. My TSH was like 56 or something insane like that. A year or so later, I was diagnosed as autoimmune Hashimoto's. My major symptoms were weight gain (15lbs in 2mos with full-time BFing), hair loss, fatigue. You may also want to get your vitamin levels checked.... like vit D, iron (ferritin), and vit B's.

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My son just turned one on 9/30. By December of 2010 I had lost all but 5 lbs or so of my pregnancy weight and now I weigh more than I did when I was 9mos pregnant. I have had a feeling my thyroid was low because of my symptoms (fatigue, massive mood swings, weight gain, depression, anxiety). I had tests done back in May of this year but that NP was a quack and never saw me again to review my results. I found a good DR who is now treating me. Thyroid problems run in my family, too. This is OT, but I am also going to have to have surgery on BOTH of my hands because my pregnancy induced carpal tunnel has gotten so severe I have symptoms of nerve damage and neuropathy. Pregnancy did not do my body good at all.

I had my daughter July 12, 2011. Started having weird symptoms not long after i had her. Tired, fatigue, hot flashes, depression, some hairloss & fast weightloss. Lost 65 lbs in four months. Just got diagnosed with PP thyroiditis hyperactive thyroid. My tests showed I was producing 3x the hormone than normal. Trying to get it under control now with meds. Some of the side effects caused a fast heart rate & negative effects on my heart. It's been a nightmare dealing with this. I guess i got an extreme case of it
