Has anyone painted any baby furniture before, especially a crib? Any specific paints that are safe to use?

We have been given a crib and a changing table, but it's different colors and a mismatch of stuff, so I was thinking of painting it all white, so it would at least match in color. What do you think?

Should I not bother at all? Or is there safe paint to use on baby furniture?

i know several people who have painted baby furniture...we considered it until i found a set i was in love with that came in the color i wanted.

im sure any lead free paint is safe, but i know sherwin williams has been known to help people with this type of thing! sorry im not much help, but maybe some i hope? good luck!

I would paint the furniture all one color too --- whichever color - black or white - that goes best with your bedding/nursery colors.

I don't have a recommendation for any specific paint but I'm sure most lead free paints would work. And, like Chelsea suggested, you could just ask someone at Sherman Williams. I wouldn't trust just any guy at a paint counter though (like Wal-mart). Employees at a professional paint store will be more knowledgeable.

I've also seen where you can paint a chester drawers all white but paint the drawers colors to match the nursery (using one color or multiple colors). Here's one example...
tween's room - Girls' Room Designs - Decorating Ideas - Rate My Space

I've seen a nightstand with three little drawers. It was painted all white except the top and bottom drawer were painted blue with white knobs and the middle drawer was white with blue knobs. It was SO CUTE!

Great topic. I think any non-lead paint would work for anyone who wanted to do this.
Thank-you GraysMama for my beautiful siggy!
