Hi everyone,

Today is day 50 of my cycle. AF last came on January 22nd (or possibly 23rd) and my longest cycle in the last 18 months was 37 days. As of today I am 12 days late.

The only symptoms I've had are being emotional and I just noticed last night that my nipples are a little tender. I took a HPT (First Response Early Result) this past Saturday (March 9) at 9 days late, and it showed up negative...So now I'm a little confused...AF has never been more than 5 days later than the previous month and until now I have never missed a cycle. My boyfriend and I did have unprotected sex on February 15th (22nd day of my cycle) however I do not know when I ovulated.

I am planning to retest Thursday (14 days late). I know there are other reasons women miss AF completely but out of the list I've seen the pnly possible reason for me is maybe stress. And I don't think that is too likely since I was much more stressed in December and I still got AF in January.

Based on what I have described, do you ladies think I am pregnant?,Why or why not? I am not sure when I should see a doctor yo have a blood test and a pelvic exam done..either after the next time I test once I'm over 2 weeks late, or I could wait until I test a third time and see a doctor after I'm 3 weeks late. When dp you guys think woulf be best?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post,

I would say go to your doctor and explain that you are this late and never gone with a cycle this long. I would see if they would do bloodwork and a pelvic exam. I would see the doctor once you are considered like 2wks late. By then you will have an idea if you are pregnant or if AF is coming. I just know my NP has always said that it isn't normal to go without having a cycle and unless you are pregnant.

I'd say wait til you're two weeks late and call the doctor. I've missed periods before due to stress, illness, or just an abnormal cycle. None of my doctors ever seemed concerned by it as long as I didn't miss two periods in a row.

You either ovulated later than you thought... it happens to us all now and than, your hormones may be out of balance, you could have a cyst... so many possibilities. If you just have one long cycle now and than it is no big deal but if it is happening frequently and you do want to become pregnant than you should see an OB. You may also be pregnant and you just ovulated later and therefor it is too soon to get a BFP. I would just keep retesting until you either get your period or a BFP. Good Luck!

Hi ladies,

Thanks for your replies and advice. Just an update: I took another test yesterday and today. Yesterday there was a very faint second line that was a little hard to see. But today, i got a darker line soI know I'm pregnant. I went and scheduled an appointment with an OB yesterday, I will be seeing the doctor Monday morning.

Congratulation! Sounds like you ovulated late. Make sure you tell the doctor how late you are and that you just did get a positive pregnancy test.He/ she may order blood work and maybe an u/ s in a week or 2 once your levels are high enough to see your little bean.
