Hello ladies!

I was talking with a friend this morning who has a baby that is about 6 weeks old. She has PPD and her doctor gave her prozac (sp?) but told her that she needed to stop breastfeeding to take it. She is really torn because she doesn't want to stop breastfeeding. I was wondering if there were any medications to treat PPD that were safe to use while breastfeeding. And of course any other helpful advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance

Yes, a mother can continue depression meds while breastfeeding. Here's a link that can give you more information: http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/antide...-hale10-02.html
Her doctor should have looked for a medication she could take while breastfeeding, instead of giving her one and telling her to stop.
