I have had thrush several times. My nipples burned and itched and son had white in his mouth. Took us weeks (and lots of meds) to get rid of it. Ever since then, I've been taking probotics. Recently, I had a bad case of mastitis and ended up on antibiotics for 14 days. I tripled my probotic intake as well. Here I am two weeks after finishing up my antibotics wondering if I have thrush. My nipples don't hurt/burn or itch. I do have pain under both nipples when they are pressed. My let down is a bit more painful and I have some random shooting pains in my breasts. Is it possible to have thrush without nipple pain/burning?

I've read that it's possible, but hopefully that's not it. Thrush is no fun at all. Is your son on probiotics as well?

My nipples always hurt when I had thrush, so it's hard to say. It could be in your ducts though, which would explain the shooting pains. You could try a few days of gentian violet and see if your symptoms get any better. If not, then it's probably not thrush. If they do, then continue treating it as you've done before. I hope it gets better soon!

When I had intraductal thrush, I had sharp shooting pains in my breasts, and except for the 2 days before that started, I didnt have pain/burning/itching in just the nipples.

You might want to check w/a LC or your doc!
