Gavin is 4 months and a few days old. He has been EBF since birth. Lately, he hasn't been gaining like he used to. He used to gain 7 oz a week now maybe 2-4 oz a week.

Here is some weight numbers over the last couple weeks.

8/31 - 12 lbs 4.5oz
9/7 - 12 lbs 8.5oz
9/15 - 12 lbs 10.5oz

He has PLENTY of pee and pooh diapers (that isn't an issue ). He is growing in length (he is 26.5 inches long - grew 2.5 inches in a month) but not gaining weight like he used to. I really really do not want to give him formula or start solids until after 6 months. My supply isn't an issue and he eats every 2-3 hours. He has been VERY active lately and DH thinks maybe that he is up more and using more energy or he is older now and doesn't gain as much as he did when he was younger. I am going crazy thinking something is wrong. He doesn't seem hungry and takes both boobs and eats for 5+ on each boob. And when he comes off, he seems very satisfied. Should I be concerned?

He turned 4 months on the 9th.

Thanks for reading!

I am having the same issue! Carter turned 4 months on the 1st. He gained like crazy in the beginning and was in the 90th percentile at this 2 month checkup. Now his gaining has slowed considerably, but I am not worried (and my ped said not to worry as well). As long as he is satisfied, happy and making his diapers he is fine! It is "normal" (from what Im told) to gain about 2oz per week, your son was probably like mine and was gaining more than the average in the beginning and now it's evening out. Trust your son. He knows what he needs and will certainly let you know if he's not getting enough!!
Keep in mind that around this age, many babies don't nurse as long because they are distracted by their surroundings. They want to get down to business and get it over with so they can go on and play and be active!!!

It sounds like he is right on target. He is happy, has enough dirty diapers and is gaining weight, even if it's at a slower pace. Most breastfed babies start to slow down thier weight gain after 4 months old. Here's a link that might help: http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns...ight-gain.html
Since he's gaining an average of 3oz/week, there's no need to worry. Remember, that he won't gain consistently each week either. Some weeks he'll gain more and some, he'll gain less, and they will equal out. Try not to worry, he's doing great!

I wouldn't worry. Weight gain stars to taper off around 3-4 (nto that they don't gain, but they gain less).
