I have been searching for an answer but mostly the sites are about being pregnant and painting. I am wondering if it's safe to paint while you are breastfeeding I am sure it is but just wanted to be positive. When I say painting I mean like a bedroom with just plain old regular paint. There really aren't many fumes but my DH keeps worring that it could affect my milk. Any thoughts?

Were you going to eat the paint too?

I don't think it would be a problem. I don't see how it could possibly affect your milk, but maybe somebody else has more info.

Thanks to Mom2*Lauryn*Jacob* for this beautiful sig!

Yes, it's safe. The only things you need to worry about while breastfeeding are things that can enter into your bloodstream, which in turn gets into your milk. That's things like certain food protiens (milk, if your child is sensitive to it), alcohol, medications, etc. Here's a link that doesn't really talk about painting, but it has information on other activities and breastfeeding and it might be helpful:

Try to get VOC (volatile organic compound) LOW or FREE paint.
ie. Benjamin Moore Natura Paint it has no VOCs.
Ventilate area so you breath in less fumes.
Wear gloves.
