Quinn has started sleeping LONG stretches at night (7-8 hours). I've heard that supply adjusts so that you still make plenty during the day when your baby sleeps through the night, but I was just hoping to hear some reassurance because I'm afraid of losing my milk now that she sleeps. I am very happy she's doing this, but wasn't expecting it so soon. I wake up so engorged and in milk-soaked sheets---yuck!

*very jealous you have an all nighter* you will adjust eventually first time mine STTN (attempted to..lol) i was in so much pain i had to wake her up.a few more times and i got ok with it,but then after about a month at the most she decided not to STTN anymore so even now if she goes more than 4 hours im full and very uncomfortable. and the little bit of time she did STTN my milk never decreased at all ,oh and she did make up for it the next day.

Don't worry, your supply will adjust just fine. My first DD slept 8 hour stretches every night for about 6-8 weeks as a newborn and my supply adjusted to it just fine. When she started wakign up again though, I started producing more again at night to meet that need. Our bodies are amazing things

It will be fine and her sleep may change and you will readjust again if you are in a lot of pain you can hand express some milk, but if you full on pump, you will just tell your body to make more. Expressing just a little to relieve the pain is the best.

My supply has adjusted fine. At first I was scared at the thought of her sleeping more than 3-4 hours in a row because of how full I'd get but after several nights of her sleeping 4+ hours I wasn't as uncomfortable anymore. Now she can sleep for 6+ hours and I'm not in pain at all, just noticeably full and sometimes maybe a little uncomfortable (but it's not bad at all). Like mentioned above sometimes I would express a tiny bit if I was in pain but I never pumped until I was empty, that seemed to ease my pain a bit and helped during the transition period.

Is it normal that her daytime feeding would go a bit crazy as a result? I'm thinking she's trying to adjust to the fact that she goes awhile between feeds at night now.

when bailey started STTN at 6 wks (8-8) she would eat more than she was during the day.

i did notice a change in supply, engorgement at night and i'd hand express a bit, that only lasted 3-4 nights, then during the day, it took a few days to make enough to satisfy her new daytime hunger, but again after 3-4 days we were good.

then she stopped STTN at 6 mos, now if she sleeps longer than 5 hours its like boulders on my chest, and during the day she is going much longer between feeds and i was getting engorged, but again its all evened out. the breasts are amazing w how they adjust!
