It has started... My 8 month old has been chomping down! She has two bottom teeth. Usually it's just as she's latching on. I say the firm "no!" - but now she starts crying when I do that and refuses to nurse!

Any suggestions/experiences?

this happend to us and my local la leche told me to remove him, set him down in front of me and wait 30seconds with my eyes closed before trying again. i only had to do this a couple of times and then biting stopped. that was at around 11 months...and we're 16 months in now and still going!

Ugh yes. I wish I had advice, but I don't. My daughter bites so hard she makes me bleed, so I walk away from her. But she does it when comfort nursing so we are working on breaking that.

Good luck!

All of mine started nipping when they started teething. They usually started doing it when they were playing and not really nursing, but I would take them off and hold off the feeding until the next one. They quickly learned not to do it. (like it took only 3-4 times with each)

I just spoke with a LC about this. She said when nursing to keep a finger close and when you anticipate it pop baby off. When baby does bite, take it away, walk around with baby telling him/her it's not nice, biting hurts, ect.
