I just had my baby 3 days ago and am having some issues. Due to the holidays, I can't get into seeing a lactation consultant until after Christmas but I need some relief soon!

My nipples have cracked and scabbed over, possibly because of a bad latch although in the hospital they said her latch was fine. And now that my milk is in, I can feel some lumps after she has finished nursing so I am thinking maybe a blocked duct too.

I've been using lanolin on my nipples but omg it is SOOO sore when she latches

Yes, rub lanolin in your nipples. If it is very bad, you can put neosporin on it and just wipe off prior to feeding. As far as blocked ducts, it may just be engorgement from your milk just coming in. Just nurse as much as possible. If it gets too severe to nurse, you can try a nipple shield, but I would try to tough it out. You can call your local La Leche, they may be able to help you before the holiday, even if it is over the phone. Hang in there!!!!

Agree with the constant lanolin and the cool gel packs. I also got mine from babies r us and they areAMAZING with engourgement. I would put them on for 10 minutes then pump or nurse and it took a couple days but then the engourgement was gone for me.
