I'm thinking of starting power pumping. 10min on and 10min off for an hour to boost supply for when I go back to work..has anyone done this with success? I already have an over supply and fast let down so do you think this will make me over produce? I don't want to be in too much pain between feedings and pumping.

I did it with my first, but only after my supply started to dwindle after being back at work for a while. It did help some. If it were me, I wouldn't worry about doing it if you already have an oversupply. You don't want to risk mastitis. It's a good trick to file away for future use, though.

I do what I call mini power pumping: on 10, off 2 & repeat x 3...it helps me let down more than once.

I have never heard of this. Would you suggest doing this while nursing? I want to pump along with nursing so I have a good supply.

AWell after I fed my LO on only one side for 20 min, I pumped for 10 on the other and got 1 1/4oz and then after pumping on that side for 10min I pumped on the other side (side LO was eating on) for 10 and didn't even get another 1/4oz so I'm going to wait until I feel a let down and pump a bit more. I need to start my supply for when I return to work but also I'm going to be running errands next week where I have to leave the baby home so I need something for in laws to feed him with.

some women do not respond well to the pump, i had to struggle to pump enough. i always got the most milk while nursing and pumping the other side during the first feed of the morning. also make sure your membranes are new and the horn part is the correct size.

the power pumping simulates a growth spurt and will increase your supply if you do it for a week or so. however, if you have an oversupply,i would not recommend it.
