Ok so I have yet to find a BC that I can tolerate. I had my daughter 5 months ago. At first I tried the Mirena I.U.D and had so many complications with it that I got it removed a couple months later. Now I'm on loestrin 24 bc pill and I swear I'm so irratable about 95% of the time. I want to break down and cry all the time. After I had my first daughter in 2008 I tried Ortho-tricyclen, nuva ring and yaz!! No luck so I just gave up on hormonal bc period. But then I ended up pregnant again when my oldest was 10 months old. I don't know what to try next Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for me?

Moodiness, irritability, and depression are all common side effects of synthetic hormones. Some women are more sensitive to the hormones than others. Perhaps a non-hormonal option would suit you better, so you can just be yourself without the influence of the hormones?

You sound just like me!

I was on lo-estrin from the age of 14-22. The whole time I was an emotional mess. Always crying, depressed, irritable. I just thought it was part of being a teenager...

Then I went off the pill and became a "nut-case" for the four months after. I did things that were completely out of character...it was HORRIBLE.

Following that, I had a copper-IUD and I really loved it. No hormones and very effective. However, after about 2.5 years of having it, the last 6 months I was experiencing a lot of pain and yeast infections.

So I had it removed a couple of months ago and had my doctor put me on the mini-pill (micronor) hoping that a progestin only pill would be ok.

I was wrong. The emotional instability, and depression came back within weeks of being back on it.

SO, now I have turned to the FAM method which is non-hormonal and very effective. You might want to stop over at the Natural Family Planning board if you decide that something like the Copper IUD isn't for you.

Best of luck! *hugs* I know how scary this can be!

Thanks! I will look into NFP! I actually have been kinda interested in checking it out anyways. I'm sick of hormones influencing my personality!
