Okay, maybe silly, but I am really proud of myself. I didn't post my weight in the weigh in today but I weighed in at the gym. I am still up 1.2 pounds from 2 weeks ago. It's quite discouraging to be doing everything right and not see the scale budge and even be up, but I know I am doing the right things so I am not worrying about it. Anyways, on to why I am proud of myself. I knew I needed to up my carbs and calories if I wanted my performance to improve on my runs. The old me, would have just cut back my calories because the scale was up. I would have just been convinced that was the way to go and I would have been more focused on making that scale budge any way that I could. Anyhow, I ordered these energy gels for my runs so I could carry them for something to eat on long runs and before runs. They are pretty much carbohydrates. I had cut back my carbs a while back when I increased my protein and I knew based on my last couple runs that I was going to have to increase my calories and my carbs in particular if I wanted my speed and endurance to improves. So today, after stepping on the scale and seeing the number up on the scale instead of whining, pouting, going on a binge, or trying to drastically cut my calories, I had one of my energy gels before my run and hopped on the treadmill. It was by far the best run I have had since last year (when I was running). I was so proud of myself for not letting the scale throw me off my groove and for doing what I knew needed to be done. I like these gels because I convince myself that I am eating energy and not food, lol. Anyhow, that's me for today!

That is awesome! I dont know what your goal weight is, but I have to say no matter where the scale goes there is no need for disappointment. I admire your choice to run, and I hope to someday be called a "marathon runner" myself... I am sure (and it is evident by your work out) that your body is thanking you for the nutrients it needs. Food is fuel, and I am amazed at differently my body reacts to things I eat. It must feel so liberating to be able to run 5 miles. On behalf of your body, thank you.
