I'm happy to report that i stepped on my scale this morning, 2 days post vacation and the scale is still in the exact same spot! I guess spending a small fortune on fruit while I was there paid off!

But I have a question. summer has FINALLY hit Halifax. It's was 30C when I left for work today. I barely got half way there (about 1.5mi) and my fingers were so swollen I couldn't bend them! I often have a problem with my fingers swelling when I walk (because I do so with my hands down), but never this bad! I was in so much pain I went to the grocery store to buy a frozen meal just so I could hold it!

Any ideas what I can do to alleviate this? Hands up isn't always an option beacuse I carry my lunch (which isn't heavy) in one hand, but I can't deal with this for the rest of the summer!

Are you drinking enough water? That sometimes can lead to swelling. Can you get a backpack to use to carry your lunch and anything else?

BTW, congrats on not gaining on vacation! I did that too, and it was hard!

I have a backpack (several actually), but I've been noticing when I use a backback I get more headaches.

No, I'm probably not drinking enough water. I pee like I do, but I'm sure I don't. I'll try and keep upping it even though I find I feel sick when I drink more than a few glasses a day.

I'd suggest upping your water and lowering your sodium. Also, move your hands, like clasping and releasing while walking to keep blood flow moving. And if the backpack bothers your back (which is what is probably causing the headaches), then maybe try a purse like bag so you are carrying it differently and can bend the arms at 90 degrees and pump them while walking. Again, the pumping and bending is for blood flow. When you aren't using the arms while walking you may tend to get blood pooling in the hands that can cause that swelling.

lol, I do use a purse, but it's a long one that goes over one shoulder, when I wear the short one and loop my hand in it (while it doesn't swell...) I pull down on it giving myself another headache.

I don't think I consume a lot of sodium, I rarely use salt, always buy the product with the least amount of sodium in it possible. I'll just have to try upping the water. I've had two 600ml bottles today, plus 2 10oz glasses today... I'll try for the same tomorrow while I'm home then go for a walk and see if it's any better.
