I'm starting to get a little more comfortable talking about this, but I have bipolar disorder (rapid cycling). I can spend days in bed doing nothing but crying when I get really depressed and I can bounce of the walls with energy, functioning on next to no sleep for days when I am up. It greatly affects, well, everything in my life.

This morning I woke up feeling really depressed and thinking, great it's Monday I need to exercise today. I'm feeling a little bit better now, but I still feel like I'm in a funk. It makes it really hard to push through my workout, and even harder to get in a great workout. I end up just trying to muddle through instead of giving it my all.

Does anyone here have issues with your moods that affect your diet or exercise? (I know this is personal so only share if you feel comfortable. It's taken me a really long time to start talking openly about my bipolar disorder).

Just wanted to say that I'm glad that you are able to talk about. I know talking about things is one of the first steps in dealing with anything. That is why I love JM. I have found so many wonderful women on this site to help me when things are tough.

{{hugs}} A few months after I started exercising my DH and I went through something that really threw me into a depression. I know that is not the same as what you are dealing with, though. Some days my workouts seemed like one of the few things that kept me sane. I really got into kickboxing during that time, I threw some VERY focused punches, lol. Other days I just couldn't do it and then I felt bad about skipping it and would eat instead. It was a really rough period of time, so thankful it was something I was able to come out of.
