He's opted for the hands-on surgery to get his prostate removed and tomorrow's the day for it. He's having the surgery at Walter Reed (he's retired military). If all goes well he'll come home on Saturday. They'll check his PSA regularly for a while and hopefully it will go down and stay down and he'll need nothing further than the surgery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. His name is Frank Bowie.

Update: Daddyís surgery went very well. The doctor said he didnít feel anything (like a lump) in his prostate and felt nothing in his lymph nodes (which he also removed). Thatís great news. Although we wonít know for sure if/that he is cancer-free until heís has some follow-up PSAs done, chances are very good the cancer is now completely gone!

Sure will Heather. I have a friend who did this and he has been cancer free for 3 years now. I wish all the best to your dad. He is in my thoughts and prayers, as are you.

Will do. My Papa went through the same thing, some treatment, etc. He never needed more than the surgery so hopefully your Dad will do the same. Good luck.

Thanks for the update. That definitely sounds promising and I'll be looking forward to the cancer-free news!
