I just talked to a friend of mine who I convinced to use the 100 Easy Lessons, and she said that she'd come up with a way to enhance the writing portion of the book. She said after about 30 lessons, she started writing very short, simple sentences like "The sun is hot." and such, and having her daughter copy them. After a bit, she started dictating simple sentences and having her daughter write them down, and she said that it's been working very well. I thought that was a great idea and just wanted to share. My son who is the same age is just getting started on his lessons with it (she had my book for a while until I finally bought her a new one ), and I'm planning on doing this with him too.

That is a good idea. We don't use 100 Easy Lessons, but we do copywork and dictation like that.

My son didn't like 100EL, but we do copy work and spelling words too. It really makes a difference!
