Ok so I have decided to go with Sonlight for History and Science. For Lang arts and math I am going with Abeka.

So I found a good deal on Sonlights Core 1. My daughter will be in 2nd grade. The deal I found comes with readers 1 instead of readers 2. Do you think this would be ok or should I really be getting the readers 2 for a 2nd grader? I will tell you that the public school failed her in Lang arts by 4pts in 1st grade. Here at home she seems to be reading pretty well though. So I am doing 2nd grade this year anyways. All of her other grades were good. I guess I could always get the other readers at the library if I think she needs those instead right?

Let me know what you think.

It depends on her ability. The level 1 readers are Frog and Toad type books ( i think.) If she is reading beyond that level, then yes I would definitely get the level 2 or 2 adv readers. Those are some great books you wouldn't want her to miss out on- but only if she is reading at that level. :-)

You'll have fun with Core 1 though. We loved doing the ancient egypt stuff. I did core 1+2 with 2nd and 5th graders and they both had a great time.

Yup, it all depends on her reading level.
