Hi everyone! I have been on JM for a couple of years now but this is my first year homeschooling! We went with the K12 program through iNsight school of Oregon and are currently schooling our 6 yo in Kindergarten. Things have gone well so far but I am hoping to find a community to share ideas with and hopefully keep the experience of homeschooling a positive one

Hi Rebecca, Welcome to the Homeschooling Moms' Club! Having been a homeschooler mum for more than three years now, I can vouch for the fact that you're going to love the entire experience and things will only get better from now on. When I started homeschooling my daughter back then (she is now 7 years old), i was more than a novice at it. I had no idea whatsoever how to go about it in the beginning. Did a lot of research, a lot of reading up. There was even a point when I threw up my hands and almost gave up! But then, one fine day, when my daughter started showing the results (meaning thereby that when I actually started observing that my teaching her is bearing some fruit and she is actually understanding stuff), there was no looking back. I tried even harder, set up a new curriculum for her to be revised every quarter, looked up worksheets and activities online and made our teaching-learning more of an interactive process. And today, I have nothing to regret as I plan to continue my homeschooling process right upto middle school atleast, if not more!

Welcome, Rebecca.

I am not a fan of the K12 corporation, but I don't have time for much more than a post and run right now.

Have you seen this? A teacher's experience with K12, inc.

Or looked into any of the resources for connecting with your local hs community here:

Oregon Homeschooling - Connect with Other Homeschoolers, Find Events | A2Z Homeschooling

Or other online resources mentioned here:

Homeschool Message Boards

or seen if your local library has a copy of this:

Homeschooling The Early Years

Best of luck to you and your daughter. The early years are so much fun!
