We unschool our 8 year old DS. So far it is working incredibly well for us. I should add that we aren't "strict" unschoolers. We do occasionally supplement a math worksheet in when he needs practice on a topic. For pretty much every other subject, we are entirely child-led at this point.

Any others out there?

I wish I could do it! I just don't have the ability to "let go." My child is not focused or driven enough for it either. He would just play with Legos all day!

I have been trying to keep an open mind about all forms of homeschooling to find the right fit. I have an autistic son that won't put effort into anything so I can't really be too child led at this point.

We kind of do a hybrid. More traditional for math and Language Arts basics. Unschool for the rest.

I unschool my kids, although I do stress that they do math every day, and we use khan academy. I have them write a one page report on anything they want to tell me about. For Social Studies and Science, I will buy whatever curriculum they want to use, if they want to study them at all. Some of them work hard, others skip outside the minute their required work is done. Seems to work for us!

We're making the transition to homeschooling and I think we will also be using a hybrid. We're actually going to be traveling full time so we will likely let the location we are in dictate what we are learning!
