Today, Scotty came in from planing veggies in the garden with is daddy and said "mommy, I came in cause I wanna do school again." How could I turn that down???? I am so excited that he likes it enough to want to do it again. So this time I reviewed A and B with him and then we did "give me zero pencils" which has been a hard concept for him to grasp and then I just let him cut paper and glue it on another paper. LOL He had a blast. I got some alphabet notecards done and that was a plus too. He is upset because I suggested taking the weekend off and not doing school.

That's so wonderful that he's enjoying school so much!

I was surprised. He is not always excited once we get started - especially when I ask him to do something that is a little challenging for him. But I was so happy to hear he liked it as well.

I'll tell you what - I have spent the last 4 years failing at 90% of the things I try to do. This is not going to be one of those things....because I won't let it be. Right now, I am having a ball and so is Scotty.

I have also decided that just because my ex is a jerk and doesn't want Bryce homeschooled doesn't mean I can't give him a jump start in the summer. He wants to learn cursive and pre-algebra. So....when I give Scotty his work, I am going to get a workbook for Bryce and start him on cursive and math worksheets. At least he will be learning!!

I'm happy for you that everything is going well. And, really, don't stress about not being able to HS your older son right now. The MOST important factor for a successful education is that the parents are involved, and that applies to public schools, too. Just keep having fun with it!
