What culinary masterpiece are you planning to feed your family tonight?

We're having sausage pasta.

Welllll, yesterday was dh's birthday (36!) but he had to work nights so he was sleeping all day and by the time he got up he had to hurry & get dressed, eat, & open his gifts from the boys. Plus his parents called to talk to him. All this in an hour! Oh, and I made brownies for him (he doesn't care for cake much) so he had to squeeze in blowing out candles and us singing "Happy Birthday" to him somewhere. The boys wouldn't dare let him out of the house on his birthday without blowing out his candles! So, all that to say that he didn't really get to enjoy his birthday much because it was too rushed. We're going into town this afternoon for Jack's doctor's appointment. I'm *hoping* I can convince dh to go to Red Lobster or something like that for dinner for his birthday. He usually just wants to come on home, so we'll see. If we do come home, I have no idea what's for dinner tonight!

Well, actually, the kids are feeding us tonight. They have been asking to cook an entire meal together, so tonight is the night.

Madison is cooking the main dish....Ratatoulle.
Patrick is making tomatoe soup.....found a great recipe for it with onions and chicken broth
Carter is making a cake.

I will, of course, help with the chopping of the vegetables and supervise use of the oven. They are so excited! I will post pics of the meal tomorrow or tonight.

The kids are super excited about trying ratatoulle. It is made with egg plant and squash.

Wow, Sherri!! What FUN!!

I ended up throwing swiss steak together in the crock pot and it's cooking now. So much for chicken.

I am thinking of making a chicken pie and having Sarah help make some pastry as I have no bought sheets.
