Just wanted to say how glad I am that there is a "Choosing to Vaccinate" board! In my Playroom, I often feel like I am the only person who vaccinates and does so on schedule. I'm sure there are others but they aren't saying anything - we are in hiding.

I still feel grateful to live in a place where we have such awesome medical care and access to life saving vaccines. I posted a link to this book on the links thread... Vaccine-Preventable Disease - The Forgotten Story

I read it at my Pediatricians office and one of the stories is about a woman and her daughter from Africa (I think). The daughter had Polio as a child in Africa and was in a wheelchair. The mother said where they were from people would walk for MILES if there was an opportunity to get vaccinated. Just gave a nice perspective on the situation I thought.

Thank you to Lillibugsmommy for my beautiful siggy!

I just joined the board a few months ago and I'm so happy its here. Other "mommy" sites always have an anti-vaccine board, so its nice to have a place to discuss vaccines without being accused of poisoning our children.

Welcome to the board!

Yes, I'm glad JM has a board for both sides atleast & not just the opposing side!

I just went back & checked and one of the girls on the website ... Leslie ... She works with Meningitis-Angels Organization which I work with as well! How awesome! I'm going to see if I can share our story with them!
My 3yr old son Landan died 23hrs after being diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis. It is a potentially vaccine preventable disease. The vaccine isn't on the schedule until 11-12yrs but is approved for use at age 2yrs. Our second son received the vaccine in December 2010 when he was 2yrs old. My son & thousands of other children prove that a vaccine is needed at a younger age.
