to choosing not to vaccinate!

Well this vaccine isn't even 10 years old and contains aluminium. I would also read what Dr. Erdem Cantekin Ph.D. has to say about the Prevnar vaccine (link). Obviously if you still feel the risks outweigh the benefits, I totally respect your choice. Just let us know if there is more we can do and if you do get some vaccines, check the vaccine safety link in my siggie for more precautions.

I hope you like here!

First os all Welcome!!
Prevnar was originally going to be marketed as the "ear infection" vaccine. It theoritically protects against 7 strains of strep Pnuemonia. There are many many more strains that can cause SP or illness. (over 90)

Here are a list of possible side effects given by the manufacterer:
fever, seizure, heart failure, rash, ashtma, otitis media (ear infection), pneumonia, anaphylactic shock, hives, gastroenteristis, thrush, choking, conjuctivitis (pink eye). Funny how ear infections and pneumonia are listed as possible side effects since that is what the vax is supposed to prevent! The clinical trial events that were reported also included autiimmune disease, diabetes, wheezing, croup and SIDS (12 babies died in the clincial trials).

Prevnar also claims to protect against bacterial mennegitis which is very rare anyway (NEJM study says 1 case per 100,000). Also the clinical trials were for otitis media only NOT menningitis (The PDR doesn't even claim efficacy for mennegitis protection, only the manufacterer and the CDC.) There is no safety study comparing Prevnar to a placebo (onlt to another vaccine) This is true of ALL vaccine saftery studies.

It's efficacy is also questionable. Some of the original clinical trials only reporetd a 7% reduction in ear infections from the vaccine.

There are a ton of conflicts of interest between FDA advisory committe who approved Prevnar and WyethAyerst, the manufacterer.

Prevnar vaccine contains aluminum phosphate a known neurotoxin, soy (many people are alergic or sensitive to soy) Latex (also highly allergic)

Hope that helps allay your fears...I really wouldn't be afraid of skipping this one! Also google serotype replacement. This vaccine was created in response to the serotype replacement that occurred after the HIB vaccine left a natural "void".
