I am about to enroll my 5 month old in daycare. For my other daughter, I wrote a letter explaining that my religious beliefs do not allow for vaccination. This time, however, they are requiring that I have a letter from my clergy. I objected to this, but she said that's what their DCFS rep requires and they have no choice but to do what the rep demands. I believe it is illegal and unconstitutional, and told her so, but I need something to back me up. Can anyone help? We are in Illinois.

Update: I just located the DCFS regulations that explicitly state that a clergy letter is not required, and the religious beliefs do not have to be a part of any organized religion. So, I guess I'm wondering how to go about addressing this? The director was pretty explicit that she will go with whatever the DCFS rep requires, so perhaps I should call DCFS and go through them? They won't let me enroll without the letter. I am not happy about having to deal with this, since it's going to make the daycare unhappy with me from the very beginning.

I would probably look up the law and print it off. Then call DCFS and ask what is going on (and quote the law if necessary)....and then print and sign your religious exemption form and have all of that ready.

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.
