Hey I'm a first time mom to be and I am going to breastfeed and I do want to pump, but I can't really afford to spend hundreds of dollars on an electric one. I know there are manual pumps that are much more affordable and I have been looking into them. However my sister has an electric breast pump that she said she will give me and she mentioned something about some sort of attachment I can buy for "sanitary" purposes. I know she is my sister and all, but the idea of using her pump grosses me out a bit. Has anyone ever heard of these attachments, if so, where can I get them and what are they actually called? Thanks in advance for any replies

the hospital-grade pumps are meant to be shared, so they have these parts. but i don't know of any others that are supposed to be shared.

You can buy replacement parts for it for pretty cheap. Mine is a Medela and I went to their website and replaced all the parts (I had used it with DD but wanted to replace all the parts before using with DS). The breast attachments, and tubing cost about 10 dollars all together. I would just find out what brand it is and look into replacing the parts.
