I know many of you ladies out there have been very successful at pumping - maybe you can give me some tips!

I have a three month old - we have been exclusively pumping since day one due to latching issues. All was going well until this week. Now, I do know she is in the middle of a growth spurt, but I also am just pumping less milk than before. For about a month, I was getting 4-5 ounces every time I pumped (every 3-4 hours). In the last two weeks, that has dropped to 3 ounces every time (with the exception of the first pump of the morning). I am pumping 6-7 times a day and cannot do more.

I'm going to try some power pumping in the evening this week. I'm taking Fenugreek, but I don't see a difference (2 pills, 3x a day). I've begun supplementing with formula (we were doing SO well!) which I don't mind, but I really do want to keep producing milk for her until at least 6 months.

Any tips or ideas?

Power Pumping is good. I know with fenugreek my LC had me taking 2 pills 4x a day (with each meal and before bed) ... but I am not positive it helped .. didn't hurt though. Also, make sure you are drinking LOTS of water. I see a big difference on days I don't drink enough or even if I have not been eating as much either. Breast compressions help me get more out when I don't see anything else coming out also. Just a couple ideas, but I hope they help!

Drinks lots of water and eat! I had to take quite a bit of Fenugreek but have noticed since stopping, it didn't really make a difference. I know some ladies have had a lot of success with oatmeal (rolled oats I think) or oatmeal cookies if you like those. Power pumping will also help. I now have to pump all weekend an hour after she eats to get my supply back up for the coming week.

How many ounces is she taking with each bottle? You might try lowering it an ounce. You may be feeding her more than she needs and she's just eating it because it's there. We were giving DD 5 ounces at daycare and my supply took a plummet so I had to down it an ounce and she did great with just 4 ounces.

Also, your milk supply is starting to level itself out around this age to just what she needs so that may be why you have noticed a drop. I used to be able to pump 6-7 ounces and now I'm lucky if I get 3-4 in the mornings and always pump less than 2 throughout the day.

Have you gotten your first PP period yet? I always have a huge dip in supply about a week before and the week of my period. Could be another option. It usually comes right back after I'm done.

BIG thank you to *Kiliki* for my beautiful siggy!

I'm not experienced yet, but I've been thinking about trying these to keep my supply up to par when it's time.

milkmakers lactation cookies - delicious cookies that boost milk supply
